Problem Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Dynamax Isata vehicles. Inadequate warmup protection can cause a lack of oil film on the engine connecting rod bearings while the engine is reaching operating temperature. This can result in engine damage and connecting rod failure, which could potentially puncture the engine block. Risk A damaged engine block may leak oil, which can contact hot engine or exhaust components, increasing the risk of a fire. Fix Forest River will notify owners, and FCA dealers will reprogram the engine calibration software to enhance the engine warm up protection, free of charge. The recall began October 13, 2020. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Forest River's number for this recall is 51-1234. FCA's number for this recall is W57.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. 51-1234 is the number Dynamax assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 20V591000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
