Problem Keystone RV Company (Keystone) is recalling certain 2020 Crossroads Hampton and Sunset recreational trailers. The breakaway switch may have been incorrectly wired, which can cause the trailer brakes to not function in the event of a trailer separation from the tow vehicle. Risk If the trailer detaches from the tow vehicle, the breakaway switch may not activate the brakes, increasing the risk of a crash. Fix Keystone will notify owners, and dealers will rewire the breakaway switch, free of charge. The recall began July 29, 2019. Owners may contact Keystone customer service at 1-866-425-4369. Keystone's number for this recall is 19-357.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. 19-357 is the number Crossroads assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 19V517000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
