Problem Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2016 Coachmen Galleria motorhomes manufactured from October 30, 2015, through February 15, 2016. The Federal Placards on the affected vehicles incorrectly lists the number of seatbelts as zero. Additionally, the placards did not factor in the fresh water capacity in the vehicle weight calculation and the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) is missing from the label. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification." Risk Without the GVWR listed on the label, the operator may overload the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. Fix Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will install a corrected Federal Placard, free of charge. The recall began on March 3, 2016. Owners may contact Forest River customer service 1-574-825-8628. Forest River's number for this recall is 225-02102016-0134.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. 225-02102016-0134 is the number Coachmen assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 16V094000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
