Problem Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2019 Coachmen Chaparral, Chaparral Lite and Brookstone, and Shasta Phoenix recreational trailers. The liquid propane (LP) gas bottle ring on these trailers may not have a deep enough pierce punch to bind the metal strap, possibly resulting in the LP bottle detaching. Risk If the LP bottle detaches while moving, it can increase the risk of a crash. Fix Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will install new LP bottle rings, free of charge. The recall began on June 28, 2018. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-825-8360. Forest River's number for this recall is 110-0738.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. 110-0738 is the number Coachmen assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 18V354000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
