Problem Autocar, LLC (Autocar) is recalling certain model year 2015-2017 Xpeditor vehicles manufactured March 2, 2015, to September 22, 2016. The castle nuts on the steering linkage assembly may not have been tightened properly. Risk If the castle nuts were not properly tightened, the cotter pin could shear and the steering linkage assembly components could separate, resulting in the loss of steering and increasing the risk of a crash. Fix Autocar will notify owners, and dealers will tighten the steering linkage castle nuts, as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during November 2016. Owners may contact Autocar customer service at 1-888-218-3611. Autocar's number for this recall is ACX-1604.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. ACX-1604 is the number Autocar assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 16V720000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
