Problem Arcimoto Inc (Arcimoto) is recalling certain 2017-2018 FUV motorcycles. The affected motorcycles do not have a service brake warning light to warn the operator if there is a brake system malfunction. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 122, "Motorcycle brake systems." Risk If the operator unknowingly operates the motorcycle with a problem in the brake system, there would be an increased risk of a crash. Fix Arcimoto has notified all affected owners and the motorcycles are within the manufacturer's control. Arcimoto will update the service brake warning light software, free of charge. Owners may contact Arcimoto customer service at 1-541-683-6293. Arcimoto's number for this recall is 7F7-H7M4W-12.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. 7F7-H7M4W-12 is the number Arcimoto assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 18V938000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
