Problem Altec Industries Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2017-2019 LS60 Aerial Devices. The aerial devices may not meet all aerial level ground and slope stability requirements, allowing the units to become unstable and possibly overturn. Risk An unstable aerial device can increase the risk of injury. Fix Altec will notify owners, instructing them to replace the unit load charts, adjust the Hydraulic Overload Protection (HOP) settings, verify the unit has the proper counterweight, and perform a stability test. The recall began September 13, 2019. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. CSN 730 is the number Altec assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 19V573000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
