Problem Altec Industries, Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2023-2024 aerial devices, digger diggers, pressure diggers, service trucks, reel lifters, pressure washers, and articulating crane models built on a Freightliner M2 Plus chassis. Please refer to Altec's recall report for specific vehicle make and model details. The lighting wire harness may be overloaded, preventing the vehicle lighting from illuminating. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment." Risk Lights that fail to illuminate can reduce the vehicle's visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash. Fix Dealers will rework the lighting wire harness and update the trailer module as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 8, 2024. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN-3161; CSN-3170.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. CSN-3161; CSN-3170 is the number Altec assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 24V439000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
