Problem Altec Industries, Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2022-2023 TG-124S trailers. The axle U-bolts that secure the leaf springs may not be tightened properly, which can cause the U-bolts to loosen and detach from the axle and suspension. Risk U-bolt detachment can result in a loss of vehicle handling and control, increasing the risk of a crash. Fix Altec will inspect and tighten the U-bolt nuts, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 4, 2023. Owners may contact Altec's customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN 3086.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. CSN 3086 is the number Altec assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 23V417000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.

Common questions

Is CSN 3086 the same recall as 23V417000?

Yes. CSN 3086 is Altec’s own number for it; 23V417000 is NHTSA’s. One recall, two references.

Which vehicles does CSN 3086 cover?

2022–2023 Altec TG-124S, 153 vehicles by the manufacturer’s count. A recall covers a build range, so the VIN decides whether one particular vehicle is in it.

Does the CSN 3086 repair cost anything?

No. The manufacturer must remedy a safety defect at no charge for vehicles up to 15 years old from first sale.
