Problem Altec Industries, Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2019-2022 AT41ME aerial devices. The material handling interlocking valve may lose power when the outriggers are not set, allowing the jib winch to be operated while the outriggers are up. Risk Outriggers that are not set when loads are being lifted by the jib winch may cause the unit to tip, increasing the risk of injury. Fix Altec will install a visual indication system to show when the outriggers are set or not set, and provide a new pre-operational inspection placard, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 16, 2022. Owners may contact Altec's customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN 3030.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. CSN 3030 is the number Altec assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 22V794000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
