Problem American Custom Golf Cars (ACG) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Moke vehicles. These vehicles may have been built with windshields that do not have laminated glazing. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 205, "Glazing Materials," and number 500, "Low Speed Vehicles." Risk In the event of a crash, if the non-laminated windshield shatters, it can increase the risk of injury. Fix ACG will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the windshield, replacing any that are not properly labeled AS-1 windshields, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin March 2018. Owners may contact ACG customer service at 1-909-597-2885. ACG's number for this recall is ACG-RC2018-01.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. ACG-RC2018-01 is the number ACG assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 18V135000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
