Source: Office of Defects Investigation, as filedThis Preliminary Evaluation (PE) was opened on February 25, 2016 after ODI received 20 complaints alleging MY 2013-14 Husqvarna TR650 motorcycles were stalling while underway. Four of the complaints alleged low speed crashes occurred as a result. Following the opening of this investigation, and discussions with Husqvarna, the company decided to conduct a safety-related recall addressing the stalling problem and has filed a part 573 defect information report (DIR) on March 1, 2016. At the time the company was still searching for an effective remedy. As of May 10, 2016, 39 relevant complaints, six involving incidents (including one crash) have been reported. To remedy the problem, the subject vehicles' engine control software will be updated to address fuel delivery mapping. With Husqvarna's recall, this investigation is closed.
