Ford filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Nov 12, 2025, received Nov 19, 2025, about the power train. It names 4 model years (2022–2023). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

What the bulletin says

Source: NHTSA's summary of the manufacturer's communication
2022-2023 Edge 16 Nov 2022 – 23 Mar 2023 “Built on 16-Nov-2022 and through 23-Mar-2023”
2022-2023 Explorer 20 Sep 2022 – 5 Mar 2023 “Built on 20-Sep-2022 and through 05-Mar-2023”

What it applies to, as the document itself states it — the build window in the manufacturer’s own words, read by machine from the PDF NHTSA serves. The build date is on the certification label in the driver’s door jamb; the dealer settles a borderline vehicle by its VIN.

Some 2022-2023 Edge vehicles built on 16-Nov-2022 and through 23-Mar-2023 and 2022-2023 Explorer vehicles built on 20-Sep-2022 and through 05-Mar-2023 may exhibit a brief illumination of the powertrain malfunction (wrench) indicator when the vehicle is shifted into park (P) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0919 and/or P0929 stored in the gear shift module (GSM). This may be due to the GSM software. To correct this condition, reprogram the GSM using the latest software level of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) scan tool. For claiming, use causal part 7P155 and labor operations 12651D and 12651D4.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 4 model years this bulletin names have filed 534 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 201 of them name Power Train, Electrical System — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

On the 2022 Ford Explorer, the 14 owners who gave an odometer reading for Power Train reported it at a median of 26,000 miles. That figure is one model year’s, not the whole range this bulletin covers — medians from different model years are not averaged.

Vehicle wouldn't start using push button start, several modules/components reported errors: traction control, parking break, steering, shifting. The vehicle drove fine less than 24 hours prior to 3/3/2024. Following a week at the dealership, Ford Motor Company and the Ford dealership determined the main wiring harness was the culprit.

I've been having intermediate issues with my 2022 Ford Edge starting and leaving me stranded with no warning signs. Its been to (2) dealers to be serviced ( Avis Ford & Suburban Ford of Waterford) both dealers have been unable to diagnose the issue. My vehicle only have 26000 miles and is still under manufactures warranty.

I reported this the other day. The screen will go black and stay that way for several minutes. It will then come back on then out again. It's getting a lot worse. I'm an older lady that's a lower leg amputee trying to work and I need this screen for directions as I'm by myself in areas I don't really know at night.

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Ford SSM 54367 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the SSM 54367 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does SSM 54367 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 4 model years: 2023 Ford Edge, 2022 Ford Edge, 2023 Ford Explorer, 2022 Ford Explorer. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone. The document itself sets the build window: 2022-2023 Edge: built 16 Nov 2022 – 23 Mar 2023; 2022-2023 Explorer: built 20 Sep 2022 – 5 Mar 2023 — the build date is on the certification label in the driver’s door jamb.
