Chevrolet bulletin N232428992

Chevrolet filed this with NHTSA as a emissions communication dated Sep 10, 2026, about the unknown or other. It names 1 model year (2024). A emissions communication is not a safety recall — there is no NHTSA campaign number and no federal requirement — but it is usually work the manufacturer pays for on the vehicles it names; the dealer checks the VIN against the manufacturer’s list.

What the bulletin says

Source: NHTSA's summary of the manufacturer's communication

General Motors has decided to conduct a Voluntary Emission Recall involving certain 2024 model year Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles. These vehicles may have a Brake System Control Module (BSCM) that does not correctly set a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) or illuminate the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (Check Engine Light) if certain system faults with the potential to affect the vehicle’s emissions control system were to occur. Dashboard warning messages and warning lights for traction control, stability control, and brake system would remain functional in the event that a fault that could potentially impact drivability is detected. Dealers are to reprogram the BSCM.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.
