Stellantis bulletin 9100723

What it says1.Identify Customer Concern Check for small traces of coolant near the water pump, especially around the weeper chamber. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Stellantis filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Nov 7, 2025, received Nov 13, 2025, about the engine. It names 17 model years across Jeep, Dodge and Alfa Romeo (2023–2026). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

What the bulletin says

Source: NHTSA's summary of the manufacturer's communication

1.Identify Customer Concern Check for small traces of coolant near the water pump, especially around the weeper chamber. Confirm if coolant is visibly dripping from the weeper chamber. 2.Root Cause identification The weeper chamber is designed to collect small amounts of coolant (< 3 ml/h) that pass through the dynamic seal. Red traces or shadows around the chamber may appear during initial operation due to seal adaptation or vapor condensation. These traces are not necessarily signs of a leak. Continuous dripping of coolant, however, indicates a malfunction. 3.Service Repair Procedure Lift the vehicle using an elevator. Verify if coolant is actively dripping from the weeper chamber. Run the engine at idle, alternating speed between 2000 4000 rpm for 15 minutes. Observe the weeper chamber during this test: If coolant continues to drip: Replace the water pump (possible permanent damage to the dynamic seal). If dripping stops: No further action is needed; the vehicle can be returned to the customer. 4.Clarify Leak Sources Do not confuse leaks from: The Press-In-Place rubber gasket (between water pump and engine block), or The inlet pipe nipples with leaks from the weeper chamber.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 16 model years this bulletin names have filed 2,528 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 950 of them name Engine — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

On the 2024 Jeep Wrangler, the 57 owners who gave an odometer reading for Engine reported it at a median of 15,000 miles. That figure is one model year’s, not the whole range this bulletin covers — medians from different model years are not averaged.

My 23 Jeep Compass engine light came on and it started running rough. Dealer says part of the exhaust valve came off and damaged the piston. Now it needs a new motor. I just purchased it in April 2023. It is now 12/12/23 and I took it to the dealer 11/11/23. This potentially could have happened while I was driving.

I was driving the Jeep on Route 35 in NJ when all of a sudden, the car lost power, jerked forward thrusting be towards the windshield. The "D" on the gear shift started blinking and the check engine light went on. The dashboard message indicated something along the lines that I had to put the car in parking "P".

2025 Jeep Wrangler · Engine · filed with NHTSA Oct 21, 2025

Was driving down the highway, warning lights on the dashboard illuminated. Lost power, engine and electrical power. Message to place Jeep in park came on. Pulled car to shoulder. It would not start for two hours. Tow truck arrived. Jeep would start. Taken to Jeep dealership and nothing was found wrong with it.

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Stellantis 9100723 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the 9100723 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does 9100723 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 17 model years across 3 brands (Jeep, Dodge and Alfa Romeo): 2025 Alfa Romeo Tonale, 2024 Alfa Romeo Tonale, 2023 Alfa Romeo Tonale eAWD, 2025 Dodge Hornet, 2024 Dodge Hornet, 2023 Dodge Hornet and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
