The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 1 model year this bulletin names have filed 143 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 51 of them name Electrical System, Power Train — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

The start/stop warning light came on for the second time on my 2019 Durango. I had both batteries replaced the first time and now, at 18,500 miles it came on again even though I drive it daily on both highway and local roads. This time, the warning only came on once but the start/stop feature was affecting the performance of the truck.

The transmission sounds and feels like it is winding up and then shifts hard. This genrally happens right after I take off. It also sounds like it winds up at speed and then doesn't shift into overdrive, even thought it shows that it is is gear 8. This is not a one time occurrence, it happens everyday.

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

The manufacturer filed it against 1 model year: 2019 Dodge Durango. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
