Defect dossier
For attorneys and paralegals: one model, one system, every model year from 2006 on. Every coverage program, recall, NHTSA investigation and manufacturer communication on that system, once each, numbered as exhibits with dates, NHTSA numbers and source documents; every owner complaint with its ODI number, mileage and the owner’s words, labelled as allegations; a timeline of the filings; and two CSVs. The hours of pulling NHTSA’s files by hand, done.

Common questions
Source: WhichTrimWhat does a defect dossier contain?
For one model and one system across every model year: coverage programs, recall campaigns with their defect reports, NHTSA investigations and every manufacturer communication on file, each once as a numbered exhibit; every owner complaint with its ODI number, dates, mileage and narrative; a timeline; and two CSVs.
Are owner complaints evidence of a defect?
They are allegations filed with NHTSA, which does not verify them, and the dossier labels them that way. Recalls, bulletins and investigations are the manufacturer's and NHTSA's own filings.
Which model years does it cover?
Every model year from 2006 on for the models WhichTrim covers: the records behind the site's model-year pages from 2016, and NHTSA's files on 2006 to 2015 read for the dossier. Once it is open you can narrow it to the years of your case.
What is the reference date?
An optional date you enter once the dossier is open, such as the purchase or the incident. The dossier then lists every coverage program, recall, investigation and manufacturer communication filed before it, and counts the owner complaints received before it, by the dates NHTSA records. It states dates, not what anyone knew.
Is this legal advice?
No. It is an organised copy of public federal records.
What happens after I pay?
