In the event of a crash, the fuel tank may become damaged by the fuel tank heat shield bracket .","consequence":"A damaged fuel tank may leak fuel, increasing the risk of a fire.","remedy":"Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will install a protective cap on the fuel tank heat shield bracket, free of charge.  The recall began March 19, 2020.  Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298.
